WASTE MANAGEMENT

Play Forever is our commitment to protect the environment and support our community. We believe there is nothing better for the soul than to live a balanced life full of adventure, and we believe that those in the future should have the same opportunities we have today. To make this happen, Mt. Bachelor is committed to doing all we can to protect the environment and support our community by taking steps such as securing support for RendezVan’s waste stream management. We are making every effort to divert as much waste as we can from our local landfill, which is experiencing massive volumes and is expected to be full by 2025.

In acknowledgment of the potential impact a festival of RendezVans’ size and scope, Mt. Bachelor has invested in securing the services of TECTONIC, a Waste Management company that is committed to driving the cultural wave towards an event industry that prioritizes conscious consumption and respect for the planet. For RendezVan, TECTONIC will implement a waste stream segmentation process to avoid contamination of recyclable and compostable materials.

Thank you for supporting Mt. Bachelor and TECTONIC by being intentional with what you’re bringing with you to the festival, and disposing of your waste at the proper sorting stations that will be provided throughout the RendezVan Festival Center.

  • Co-mingled recycling: Includes magazines, paper products, and plastic bottles and jugs.
  • Corrugated cardboard: Includes flattened boxes that are not wax coated.
  • Food waste (compost): Compostable waste will be separated from other refuse upon disposal and turned into nutrient-rich fertilizer for gardens and agriculture.
  • Aluminum cans: Cans will be collected across the festival and be returned for the deposit. The money collected will go toward support of a local organization (TBD).
  • Landfill: Anything that cannot be recycled or composted will be separated and disposed of at Knott Landfill
